I ran into Ed again yesterday and he suggested I get on here
I used this intro to another forum.....
My name is Max and I am a motorcyclist (and a forum junkie it seems)
Although I haven't ridden today, I admit freely to y'all that I am powerless over my addiction and have a history of dependence on motorcycles in their many forms (except for HD's; I mean the bikes that have evolved since 1967) spanning over 40 years which includes some long periods of abstinence but as is the case for many, I keep coming back.
After a significant milestone in my life a few years back I thought that with some years behind me,some level of maturity, a licence with full points and family responsibilities, I could again face my demons but do it differently and control it. I got a dirtbike to ride on the week ends. That was fine, I had fun, met lots of people on great rides, built up some forgotten skills, I was doing OK - for a while.
I started to think about getting some 'tard wheels for the dirt bike and go for a spin on the roads again, then looked at some 'tards in bike shops and on the net "just like a dirt bike for the road" I told myself "they dont go fast!" - I even sat my 40 something, missus on the back of an LC4 and asked her "how does it feel honey?"
I knew I was kidding myself, I had to get a roadie again. By some intervention from the higher power, a small amount of sanity prevailed and I did not buy a sports bike, opting fo a naked. In the last couple of years have been riding the OPH and Putty rd on my own but have increasingly found myself stalking , searching for a rider ahead to hunt down.
Looking for therapy, I think have to run with a pack for a while to re align my predatory traits and socialise into the roadie scene and basically settle my desires. Thats why I'm here
Hope to pick up a ride with yous sometime soon
FYI: The name
cornerman is not meant to be a brag about my ability to succesfully navigate non-straight sections. The idea came from the corner marking system
Oh yeah the bike: I have a CB1300 it carries 2 middle aged riders comfotably and looks pretty good.
I like the retro styling and now I have dispensed with the monster muffler, it sounds
good too
